Wolves became only the second team in history to do a league double over a Pep Guardiola managed side on Friday as a late Matt Doherty winner saw them earn a 3-2 victory over the reigning league champions just two months on from their 2-0 win at the Etihad.
Normally, achieving a feat such as this would be a testament to how good the whole team is, and while everyone had their part to play, there’s no doubting that these two performances were centred around one man.

Indeed, there was no doubt about who was Man of the Match on Friday, as Adama Traore went on what can only be described as a one-man crusade to draw his team back into the game as he earned a 10/10 rating on WhoScored for his electric performance which included a goal, an assist, three created chances and an incredible 10 dribbles.
However, if you cast your mind back to early October, the winger was putting in an equally impressive showing at the Etihad as he netted a brace in the Midlands club’s 2-0 win over the reigning Premier League champions. Operating as a wing-back, the former Boro man contributed almost as equally to the clean sheet, scoring twice while providing two tackles, two interceptions, one clearance and one block.
Of course, the entire team has been brilliant for the majority of this season and this is shaping up to be a campaign to remember for Wolves as they remain in the reckoning for a fourth place finish after 19 games.
If Nuno Espirito Santo’s side clinch a Champions League spot you’d imagine pundits would pinpoint these two games against City as two vital wins that the team earned.
But in reality, this was more of a one-man demolition job as both games brought the best out of Traore who dragged his teammates over the line not once, but twice.
Meanwhile, Wolves fans have been discussing one man’s potential departure.
