After 180 minutes of huffing and puffing, Tottenham eventually made it past League Two Newport County to progress to the fifth round of the F.A. Cup.
However, it was far from a stellar performance at Wembley, with a number of Spurs players failing to live up to expectations.
Two first half goals were enough to separate the two sides; the first an own-goal from Newport’s Dan Butler, who deflected a Moussa Sissoko cross into his own net.
Erik Lamela netted the second in his first start since returning from long-term injury.
Despite the result, a number of Tottenham players were decidedly disappointing on the night. Serge Aurier, Danny Rose and Moussa Sissoko were especially poor.
However, no-one on the field had a poorer game than striker Fernando Llorente, who missed a number of glorious opportunities and never caused a problem for a fourth division defence.
After the game, a number of Spurs fans took to Twitter to lambast the Spaniard, valued at £7.2million on Transfermarkt…
