Pep Guardiola is on the verge of becoming the world’s best-paid manager by signing a new one-year extension at Manchester City, according to The Mirror.
What’s the word?
It is safe to say that this season has been a very successful one for the Spanish coach and his City team.
The club are on the verge of winning the Premier League title and took home the Carabao Cup earlier in the season with a comfortable win over Arsenal.
Guardiola’s first campaign in charge of the team was certainly a transitional period for the manager as he got to grasps with English football for the first time.

City owner Sheikh Mansour appears to be content with the ex-Bayern Munich boss at the helm, as according to The Mirror the billionaire held talks with Guardiola and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak in Abu Dhabi last month regarding a contract extension.
The publication claims that the coach agreed to fresh terms, which will pocket him £20m per year, making the 47-year-old the highest-paid manager in world football.
Is he worth the cash?
Guardiola’s CV speaks for itself.
The Spaniard has won 22 trophies over the last 10 years during spells in charge of Barcelona, Bayern and Man City.
It was at the Camp Nou where Guardiola really caught the attention of the football globe as he had a glittering four years at Barca, winning the La Liga title three times, as well as the Champions League twice.
At Bayern, the former player guided the German giants to three Bundesliga crowns as well as DFB-Pokal triumphs twice.
If Guardiola has agreed to extend his deal into a fourth year at City it would be somewhat of a surprise given that he previously admitted that spending four seasons at Barcelona was too stressful.
