Before David Martin was introduced to the West Ham United team against Chelsea, they had gone eight matches in all competitions without a single clean sheet.
The 33-year-old has now managed to keep two in his four games, achieving shutouts to secure 1-0 wins against Chelsea and Southampton.
With the latter of those pushing Manuel Pellegrini’s side further away from the relegation zone, he got some recognition from the club’s official Twitter account.
He has also received plenty of love from the fans, having made two saves to help secure the vital victory.
There was a nod to his song in the replies, with one fan exclaiming “we’ve got a chance, Martin’s in goal”, while he was also referred to as “the East London spartan”.

The goalkeeper, who grew up as a West Ham fan, endeared himself to supporters straight away with the passion he showed against Chelsea, but he has continued that through his performances on the pitch.
There have even been comparisons made to some of the game’s great goalkeepers, with the 33-year-old being named “the Romford Casillas”.
His record this season was also compared to that of Liverpool stopper Alisson, who has made the same number of clean sheets, despite having played five more league games than the West Ham man.
In other news, one West Ham man was looking back to his best in the win against Southampton.
