Leipzig have reportedly identified Leicester City's Bilal El Khannouss as a replacement for Simons but Leeds, Crystal Palace, West Ham, and Al-Ahli have also been credited with interest. The Morocco international, who was unable to keep the Foxes in the Premier League last season, can reportedly leave for €26m (£22.5m).

A move for the Leicester man is likely to be contingent on Simons leaving Leipzig, with the Dutch international keen to leave the German outfit after they failed to secure European football next season. But a move to Chelsea is far from done as talks for the £60m-rated player ($79m) continue.

El Khannouss was one of the few positives for Leicester last season, as they were relegated to the Championship at the first time of asking. The 21-year-old scored three goals and added five assists in 36 games for the Foxes.

As Leicester try to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, most likely without El Khannouss, it remains to be seen what team will sign the Moroccan and if Simons will secure a Leipzig transfer exit this summer.
