Having arrived in a big-money deal from Lyon, Alexandre Lacazette has enjoyed a decent, if unspectacular, time at Arsenal. The France international has scored 42 times in 108 appearances across all competitions for the north London side, providing a further 20 assists.
But this season has been a bit of a struggle for the 28-year-old. The centre-forward has failed to find his shooting touch on a consistent basis, netting just six times in 20 games – that includes a current run of six games without a goal in the Premier League.

And his latest blank against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon really put into perspective how poor he has been in recent weeks. As per Sofascore, he only had one attempt on goal in the 74 minutes he was on the pitch, made no dribbles, and had just 25 touches of the ball.
Quickfire Quiz: How much do you know about Arsenal’s history in the January transfer window?
After seeing his performance, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the centre-forward.
A couple of fans raised the prospect of seeing Lacazette leave the club, claiming that they should look to cash in on the France international.
Another couple of supporters of the north London side brought Lacazette’s hold-up play into the conversation, with one fan saying it doesn’t excuse him from not scoring many goals, and another instead choosing to blame the lack of creativity and quality around him.
With the current record that he is on, it is difficult to see how Arteta can continue to justify using Lacazette as the spearhead of his attack. Particularly in the absence of Aubameyang, the onus has to be on the Frenchman providing the goals for the north Londoners, but his insipid display against the Blades on Saturday afternoon raises some serious questions.
Having made the reported decision to keep Eddie Nketiah for the rest of the season, Lacazette’s time at the top of the pitch may be coming to an abrupt end. And he can have very little complaints about that.
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans are buzzing with this former academy product’s goal.
